One Tuesday night after doing some work at my church I needed to send a priority mail package to the church's accountant so I stopped at my neighborhood post office. There was one other vehicle in the parking lot as I parked and went inside. While at the postage meter machine, the guy at the table begin to ask a series of question on where could he find certain things like a box for his package, what about another mail/copy center place and a neighborhood store that could still be open. As I answered him I could tell that he was not particularly interested in traveling to those various locations at that time in order to mail the package that he had with him. Here is where I steped-up to the plate for him. I asked him if he could hang around the post office for 5 more minutes, I would go to my place and get him a box to mail his package. He thought about it and said that's ok because he had no tape to seal the box. I told him that I would bring tape as well. He agreed and I went home and got the supplies then returned to assist. After I returned, we exchanged first names and finished the package. He ask me if I always came to the aid of perfect strangers, I told him not usually but he seemed to need help and I was able and glad to assist. He thanked me and offered to repay for my help but I declined and told him that it was not necessary for him to repay me and then I left the post office.
